Recently we were asked to play the “WOP” at a high school dance. This dance is still fairly new and we are surprised by how many people don’t know this one or the Wobble, but they are finally starting to permeate our dance floors much to our delight. The Cupid Shuffle was starting to get a little tired, yes, we still love the Cupid Shuffle, but it was time for something fresh.

Now if you check out the videos of the WOP on Youtube you’ll see that these girls are one of the best duos and they add in a little of their own style. That is what makes any line dance great, spicing it up and making it your own.

Mavs ManiAACS – Still Rocking it Out

For two seasons I had the privilege of being a Mavs ManiAAC. It was one of the coolest things I’ve ever done. Recently I went to a Dallas Cowboys game and I saw Mavs ManiAACs on the Jumbotron three different times – and of course they always had the best dance moves. What is cool is to see that year after year they just keep getting better. Many people don’t know the amount of work that these guys put in, but for one 2 minute performance we might practice 12 hours over a period of 6 days straight.

The best part for me about being a ManiAAC was the performing. There is nothing like being in front of a 20,000 fans and getting to dance and be silly all at the same time and of course there was a lot of great basketball and good times with the other Mavs ManiAACs too. Glad to see they are still representin’.

I’m looking forward to another great Dallas Mavericks season – even if it is a shortened one. I wonder if Lamar Odom is going to be a good fit… I hated to see Tyson Chandler go.

This is the first year that I have DJ’d for 3 different school dances. For a while I was primarily focused on DJing Weddings and Corporate Parties, but I find that I really enjoy doing High School Homecoming’s and Proms as well as Junior High and Middle School dances.

Spears Elementary Decade Dash

Last Friday I DJ’d in Frisco for an elementary school fundraiser. The students came out by grade and ran laps around a track while parents and teachers snapped photos. We played hits by Bieber and Selena Gomez and tried to keep the tunes Kid Friendly while still keeping the parents entertained. A highlight of the day was when I did the Dougie with Hooper from FC Dallas.

The Dallas Mavericks have a D-League team called the Texas Legends. Their mascot showed up for the kids as well. His name is Dunker and he is a big blue dog. He was not as energetic as Hooper, but it was still really cool to have them out.

As a former Mavs ManiAAC I wore my ManiAAC warm-ups to the event and brought a lot of energy and helped lead warm-ups by making the students do crazy stretches. It was a blast and I look forward to many more events like this one in Frisco, TX.

It was an odd time for a wedding, Wednesday night, December 29th, but it worked out well. With Christmas Craze over and family still in town, it actually makes sense. Anthony and his beautiful bride Angela danced the night away with a choreographed waltz to Edelweiss for their first dance and then later to many line dance classics like the Cha Cha Slide, Cupid Shuffle and even the Chicken Dance.

Another highlight of the night was a fun Photo booth provide by SnapzSnapz.com. Everyone was lining up to get in on the fun, throw on some props and create some memories for themselves and the new couple. Photo booths are a fun new trend that I highly recommend. It’s a great way to give your guests a keepsake and keep some fun snapshots for yourself as well. Give Mike over at Snapz Snapz a call and tell him Eddie from Sound and Show sent you.
